One easy step for your house to appear larger and more appealing is if clutter is eliminated and furniture and household goods are reorganized.

The number one thing to do is clean out the closets. Buyers are looking for larger space and when they open the closets, they need to think, “My, what large closets and so much room for our things.” You might have to put your own things in storage while your house is for sale. This is most important.

Secondly, have a garage sale. When you decide to sell, use the old motto, “When in doubt, throw it out!” Choose things to sell. Go room-by-room and closet by closet, and study each piece of furniture. Do the same in the garage. Your house is loaded with money! Saleable items! Let those buyers see how spacious your home is on the first day your property is shown.

Examine the walls and windows. Do they need brightening up? Or do they need repainting or new window coverings? Be objective. Get a second opinion, if need be from a friend who you trust to have good taste. Also, study the front of your house. Spruce up your yard with pretty flowers. Have a professional window washer do your windows. Buyers will be very impressed with your spacious and very clean house. This means extra money in the bank for you.
